THE CITY BEYOND

I painted this in a state of deep and reflective calm which has given it a particular assurance and depth. It is inspired by my favourite city, but it alludes to many of our wonderful British cities with the swathes of fields that surround them. I hope that in the work you can recognise a city of your dreams.

Ultramarine tones dominate the sky, creating a brightening effect to any room. The ochre yellow captures the heat of English summer across the grasses with delicate paint strokes that subtly suggest the city beyond.

This painting would look best displayed in a living room or space where there is a lot of natural light to accentuate its luminosity.
